Fighting to re-open Chichester Custody Centre
We’re calling on Katy Bourne, Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex, to re-open the custody centre so our local police officers can spend more time policing in the community.
When Chichester Custody Centre closed in 2018, our community lost a vital part of local policing infrastructure. Officers now face a two-hour round trip to Worthing with detainees, spending more time on the congested A27 than on our streets. We want it reopened.
Following the announcement that Chichester Crown Court is set to re-open in April 2026, Jess Brown-Fuller MP and the Chichester Liberal Democrats, are calling for the Chichester Custody Centre to be reopened and for greater investment into our local policing infrastructure.
If you believe justice and policing should be local, sign the petition today and join the campaign to get Chichester Custody Centre reopened.
