We believe it is critical to transform Chichester. We embrace the cultural contributions from around the city, including music venues, the university, the museum and the Cathedral.

In Chichester itself there are also elections for Chichester City Council.  This hyper-local Council is solely focused on improving the environment of the City.  This includes important areas such as Priory Park.

The Liberal Democrats are passionately concerned about the closure of shops in the city centre.  We will work with landlords, tenants and organisations such as BID to help mitigate the recent closures.

Liberal Democrats will:

• regenerate the Southern Gateway, by removing the level crossing and providing a vibrant development with a residential area, transport hub, employment centres and hotel;
• develop the area around the Cathedral to become the quiet heart of the city;
• expand the role of the library to become a centre for community activity;
• develop the Novium’s links with other local arts venues to improve its exhibition programme, educational and community outreach and visitor appeal;
• celebrate the exciting programming and international prestige of the Pallant House Gallery, which will be at the heart of Chichester’s cultural message;
• ​promote the value of the Chichester Festival Theatre to the whole community, especially young people.

In Practice

In Chichester, Liberal Democrat City Councillor Anne Scicluna, is helping local residents with issues surrounding delivery vehicles.  Large vehicles are causing problems and sometimes damage to the narrow City streets.
