Natalie moved to the area from London six years ago, but has family links with West Sussex that go back over a century. She is currently working towards a PhD in nineteenth-century graphic journalism at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London; she also works part time in a Sussex gallery. Natalie has an MA in History of Art and have previously worked in feature films and book publishing. She has three children.
Natalie says, "Like many others I joined the Lib Dem party following the 2016 Referendum. I had been shocked and disillusioned by the tactics of the ‘Leave’ campaign, and feel that my voice, as part of the 48% who voted to Remain in the EU, has been entirely marginalised by this unelected government. I no longer recognise the country where I have grown up, and have been particularly horrified by the apparent normalisation of racist and nationalist rhetoric in the wake of these debates. As well as UK's economic reliance on free trade and immigration (to say nothing of financial EU support), I am particularly concerned about the potential loss of protection for human rights and the environment. Meanwhile, the triggering of Article 50 also threatens to destabilise political balance in other countries of the bloc, as well as the precarious union within our own country."
On a more local level, Natalies priorities are to support the NHS and protect the environment, as well as the creation of affordable childcare and more effective care for the elderly.

Local government works best when it is influenced by the people it serves. The Lib Dems believe people should be able to shape their local council’s priorities. That’s why we have a record of putting people first. But there is always more to do.
I'm keen to know what more we can do to make our area an even better place to live. Please do take a few minutes to complete this survey today and let us know your views.
