Improving air quality across the District is a critical priority. We will ensure sufficient monitoring stations are installed and monitored.

We will adopt car parking and transport policies that minimise the impact of air pollution on our communities.

The Liberal Democrats have already implemented two important policies at Chichester District Council: launching a plastic-free initiative and creating a the role of Climate Emergency Officer

Liberal Democrats will:

• develop community energy-saving projects;
• provide free parking for all electric vehicles;
• work towards a ‘plastic-free’ District;
• ensure all new developments include dedicated cycle routes;
• oppose unsafe and unsustainable fracking in our communities;
• insist all new developments have electric vehicle charging and ‘car club’ spaces;
• ​work with environmental organisations to maintain and enhance our countryside and shoreline.

In Practice

Adrian Moss, current District Councillor for Fishbourne, introduced the 'plastic-free' motion to Chichester District Council.  This important policy will lead to the District Council phasing out single use plastics in its operations.
