for OUR DISTRICT

We believe in our District, but the city of Chichester and its towns and villages need support. Primarily, we want to improve the area for everyone who lives here.

It is vital that the District Council works for the benefit of the entire population, no matter where they live.

As a District we are fortunate to have the South Downs,  beautiful harbours and coastline and a strong cultural heritage. We want people to come to the District for tourism, culture and recreation.

​Each of these areas has its own identity, needs and challenges.  Residents rightly expect that the District Council take on board their views.  Too often though policies are overly centralised.  This leads to other areas of the District feeling marginalised.  The Liberal Democrats are determined to change this.

Liberal Democrats will:

• reinvigorate our Chichester, our towns and villages with a fresh approach to retail, housing and entertainment;
  
• boost and enrich the retail sector with shops for all incomes, and encourage Independent traders;
  
• encourage cultural tourism;
  
• make sure sport is available for everyone;
  
• recognise that the Council must work for all people and areas of the District.

In Practice

In Loxwood, Liberal Democrat candidate Gareth Evans, has already set up a local branch of the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Communities campaign even though this is about as far from the sea as you can get in our District!  This aimed to help local business, community hubs and residents fight against litter and pollution especially on inland waterways.
